From Madeira to the World

The CLIA European Summit 2026 in Funchal once again confirmed why Madeira stands as one of the most relevant meeting points for the European cruise industry. 🚢

Over several dynamic days, one message resonated across panels, policy discussions, and executive sessions: the cruise sector is evolving, becoming more resilient, more technologically advanced, and increasingly committed to a sustainable maritime future. The strategic direction is clear, ambitious, and filled with opportunity.

✨ Panomax Cruises & Yachts was proud to participate in the Suppliers Spotlight, presenting our latest technological developments and demonstrating how high-resolution panoramic imaging continues to elevate destination storytelling, strengthen brand positioning, and enhance onboard guest engagement.

Yet beyond the formal agenda, the true value of the Summit was found in the connections. Meaningful, face-to-face conversations that transform ideas into collaborations and professional encounters into long-term partnerships.

We extend our sincere appreciation to APRAM - Portos da Madeira, the Regional Government of Madeira, and CLIA | Cruise Lines International Association for their vision and flawless organization. Delivering an event of this caliber requires exceptional coordination and dedication, and it was evident in every detail.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who connected with us in Funchal. Madeira once again provided the perfect backdrop for dialogue, innovation, and progress.

The journey continues.

Seatrade Cruise Global 2026 in Miami once again brought together the key players of the international cruise industry, creating the perfect setting for networking, innovation, and strategic discussions. Representing Panomax Cruises & Yachts were our CEO, Klaus Mairinger, Daniel Silva , Head of Commercial Relations, and Jason Gelineau , Brand Ambassador. Throughout the event, our team welcomed visitors at our stand in the Tech Zone, where we showcased how our high-resolution panoramic camera solutions enhance destination visibility, improve situational awareness, and create more immersive guest experiences. Beyond our stand presence, we had the pleasure of attending important industry events such as the Cruise Europe Reception, CLIA Business on the Bay, the Anglo-Eastern Cocktail Party, and the Porthole Party. These moments provided valuable opportunities to strengthen partnerships and connect with industry leaders from around the world. We would also like to extend a special thanks to the hosts who made our presence at these events possible: Simone Maraschi, Chair of Cruise Europe; Frits Van Der Werff, VP Commercial at Anglo-Eastern; and Bill Panoff, CEO & Chairman of The PPI Group (Porthole Magazine). Their hospitality and support were greatly appreciated. We also attended several insightful conferences covering topics such as “The State of the Global Cruise Industry Keynote”, “Navigating the Future: How AI Is Transforming the Cruise Industry”, “Luxury in an Uncertain World”, “Luxury Cruising: Iconic Hotel Brands at Sea – From Anticipation to Reality”, and “Luxury x Sustainability: The Next Frontier” alongside many other sessions led by key voices in the sector. Seatrade Cruise Global is always more than an exhibition, it is a place where the future of cruising takes shape. We return from Miami with stronger connections, fresh perspectives, and exciting opportunities for what comes next.

Panomax Cruises & Yachts continues to expand its presence across Viking’s fleet with new camera installations that further strengthen a long-standing collaboration. In November 2025, a new 360º panoramic camera was installed onboard the Viking Sea , followed by another installation in February 2026 aboard the Viking Star . These vessels hold particular significance as two of the first ships introduced in Viking’s now extensive ocean fleet. With these latest additions, Panomax technology is now installed across nearly the entire Viking ocean fleet , a milestone that reflects both the scale of our deployment and the continued trust in our solutions. Our collaboration with Viking extends beyond ocean cruising. Panomax systems are also installed onboard the Viking Mississippi , bringing our technology into the river segment and demonstrating its adaptability across different operational environments.

The cruise passenger of 2026 is younger, more connected, and more experience-driven than ever before. According to the latest reports from Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) , the industry welcomed over 31 million passengers in 2023, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. A significant share of that growth comes from first-time cruisers and younger demographics, particularly Millennials and Gen X. Younger & Experience-Led Today’s passengers prioritise immersive itineraries, authentic shore experiences, and visually compelling destinations. As highlighted across industry discussions at Seatrade Cruise News , expedition cruising and culturally rich routes continue to gain traction — especially among travellers under 40. Multi-Generational Travel Cruising is also increasingly chosen for multi-generational trips. The balance between shared activities and personal freedom makes it an ideal format for families travelling together. Sustainability Matters Environmental awareness is now a booking factor. CLIA data shows that sustainability initiatives, from alternative fuels to shore power adoption, are influencing passenger perception and brand trust. Visually Driven Decisions The modern cruise guest researches visually, books emotionally, and shares socially. High-quality imagery and immersive previews are no longer optional, they shape destination choice and onboard expectations. The takeaway? Tomorrow’s passenger is digitally native, sustainability-conscious, and motivated by meaningful experiences. The industry’s future will be shaped by those who understand not just where guests want to travel, but how they want to feel before they even board. In February 2026, Panomax Cruises & Yachts will be present at one of the most relevant gatherings of the European cruise industry: the CLIA European Summit 2026 , taking place from 23–26 February in Funchal, Madeira. The Summit brings together cruise line executives, policymakers, destination authorities, and industry leaders to discuss regulation, sustainability, innovation, and the long-term direction of the sector. It is within this high-level context that Panomax Cruises & Yachts continues to strengthen its role at the intersection of technology, destination visibility, and maritime operations. Our presence reflects a clear commitment: understanding where the cruise industry is heading and contributing to conversations around how real-time visual technology and digital storytelling are becoming increasingly central to operational transparency, guest experience, and commercial performance. Shortly after, Panomax will also be present at BTL – Better Tourism Lisbon Travel Market 2026 in Lisbon, reinforcing our broader engagement with the tourism ecosystem.
