Introducing the Panomax Duo 180º

Luís Meira • July 14, 2026

At Panomax Cruises & Yachts, we’re constantly looking for new ways to bring guests closer to every destination and every moment at sea. Today, we’re excited to introduce our latest innovation: the Panomax Duo 180º.

Designed specifically for cruise ships, ports, marinas and waterfront destinations, the Panomax Duo 180º redefines what’s possible with live panoramic imaging and live streaming. By combining two high-resolution 180° cameras mounted back-to-back, the system delivers complete panoramic coverage, allowing viewers to experience both the bow and stern perspectives simultaneously without compromising image quality.

Rather than relying on a single viewing angle, the Panomax Duo 180º captures the full surroundings in real time, revealing every arrival, departure, coastline and horizon through a single, seamlessly integrated solution.

Why We Developed It

The cruise experience extends far beyond what lies ahead of the vessel. Guests often want to watch the destination disappear behind them, admire the scenery unfolding ahead, or relive memorable moments from an entirely different perspective.

The Panomax Duo 180º was created to make that possible.

Our goal was simple: provide a more complete and immersive way to experience every journey while maintaining the reliability, image quality and intuitive user experience that define Panomax.

How It Works

The Panomax Duo 180º pairs two premium 180° panoramic cameras positioned back-to-back within a single marine-ready system.

One camera continuously captures the view from the bow, while the other simultaneously captures the stern, providing uninterrupted panoramic coverage in both directions.

Each camera independently records ultra-high-resolution panoramic imagery and supports live streaming with onboard video resolutions of up to 10K per camera. Panomax software then processes the content into smooth, seamlessly stitched panoramic views, unlocking new possibilities for Live View, Archive, Timelapse, Best Shots and real-time digital storytelling.

More Value for Guests

For passengers, the Panomax Duo 180º creates a richer and more immersive digital journey.

Instead of seeing only one direction, guests can instantly switch between the bow and stern perspectives or enjoy both throughout their voyage. Live streaming, ultra-high-resolution onboard viewing and panoramic timelapses allow every departure, arrival and scenic passage to be experienced with exceptional clarity.

Whether watching a spectacular sail-away, revisiting a favourite destination through the Archive or reliving unforgettable moments after returning home, every memory becomes more engaging and meaningful.

The result is a stronger emotional connection to both the voyage and the destinations visited.

Benefits for Operators and Destinations

The Panomax Duo 180º delivers significant value well beyond the guest experience.

For cruise operators, it creates a more engaging digital touchpoint that encourages repeat visits to onboard portals and destination pages while providing richer visual content for marketing, communication and guest engagement.

Ports, marinas and destinations benefit from broader live visibility through simultaneous bow and stern perspectives, showcasing waterfronts from multiple angles and offering future visitors a more authentic preview of what awaits them.

By capturing more of every location and enhancing the live streaming experience, the Panomax Duo 180º transforms panoramic imaging into an even more powerful tool for destination promotion, storytelling and brand visibility.

What’s Next?

The Panomax Duo 180º is currently undergoing extensive real-world testing to ensure it meets the highest standards of image quality, streaming performance and operational reliability before its first onboard installations.

These trials allow us to fine-tune every aspect of the system in real operating conditions, ensuring it is ready to perform in the demanding environments of the cruise industry.

This is only the beginning. We’re excited to bring the Panomax Duo 180º to sea and continue redefining how guests experience the world—live, from every perspective.

On 24 July 2026, a new chapter in luxury cruising began in Genoa. And we were there to capture it live. EXPLORA III departed from Genoa just one day after being delivered at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard, setting off on her very first journey: A Mediterranean Prelude to EXPLORA III with Jannik Sinner. For Panomax Cruises & Yachts, it was more than a departure. It was the opportunity to bring a defining moment in the ship’s story closer to guests, followers and cruise enthusiasts around the world, live from onboard. From shipyard to sea with a familiar name EXPLORA III’s first voyage began almost as soon as the ship left the shipyard. Delivered on 23 July at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa , she set sail less than 24 hours later, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Explora Journeys and its first LNG-powered ship. For the first two days the ship had a very special guest, the world-class tennis champion and Explora Journeys brand ambassador Jannik Sinner , travelling with EXPLORA III from Genoa to Marseille. From there, the inaugural itinerary continued along the French and Italian Rivieras before reaching Rome. A remarkable first voyage for a remarkable new ship, and one that began with a familiar name onboard.

What if the best asset on a cruise ship isn't the spa, the restaurants, or the entertainment... but the view? That's the idea Daniel Silva, Head of Commercial Relations at Panomax Cruises & Yachts, and Jason Gelineau, Brand Ambassador for the Cruise market, brought to a recent interview with cruise industry expert Bill Panoff. From Webcam to Experience Most ships have onboard webcams. Few inspire anyone. Panomax started in the Alps, built for mountain resorts. Today it runs 950+ high-resolution panoramic cameras across 23 countries, 230-megapixel sensors, and an archive of 212 million images that never gets deleted. Guests zoom in. They revisit places they saw days earlier. The view becomes something to come back to. "It's not just showing an image," Daniel says. "It's turning the ship's view into something people want to return to, again and again."

For years, the story went like this: nobody brings home postcards anymore. The fridge magnet, the printed photo, the rack of glossy cards by the harbor — all quietly replaced by the camera roll. It turns out the story was wrong. The postcard never really left. And alongside it, a new kind of souvenir has appeared, one that moves, streams, and travels at the speed of a message. The Souvenir Became an Experience Today's travelers collect timelapses, digital postcards, geotagged moments, and personalized visual memories they can revisit and share the instant they happen. For cruise guests, this opens a new way to hold onto a voyage long after disembarkation. A spectacular arrival into port. A sunset at sea. The first glimpse of a coastline on the horizon. Each one can be captured, relived, and shared with family and friends whenever the feeling calls for it. Digital Didn't Replace the Tangible, It Reawakened It Here's the part the headlines missed: the more of our lives we spend behind screens, the more we long for something we can actually hold. Printed photographs, framed prints, keepsakes on a wall, the physical souvenir is returning, not as nostalgia, but as a counterweight to a world that scrolls past too quickly. This is exactly where Panomax Cruises & Yachts lives. The most memorable moments we capture at sea can stay digital, immediate, shareable, alive, or become high-quality printed photographs a guest can hold in their hands years later. The Freedom to Keep a Moment The future of travel memories was never a choice between digital and physical. It's the freedom to keep a moment in whatever form means the most, a file to share tonight, a print to treasure for a lifetime, or both. Because a voyage was never only a place you went. It's a souvenir you get to keep, and now, the only question is how you want to bring home the view.

Ask a guest about their favorite cruise and they won't describe the systems that made it possible. They'll describe a feeling, the ease of arrival, the room that was already perfect, the view that stopped them mid-sentence. That feeling is engineered. And increasingly, it's engineered by technology designed to disappear. Technology That Enhances Without Interrupting The most effective innovations work quietly in the background. Spaces adapt without being asked. Information arrives the moment it's needed and recedes when it isn't. A journey flows so smoothly that no single step calls attention to itself. This is reshaping how cruise environments are designed. Lounges and public areas are no longer built for a single purpose, they shift through the day, serving different audiences and different moments from morning to night. The Invisible Architecture of Quality Much of what guests describe as "premium" has no visible source. It lives in smoother interactions, sharper personalization, and space used with intelligence. Technology rarely takes the credit, but it's often the reason a moment feels effortless. And effortless is what guests remember as luxury. Experiences Begin Before Embarkation Here's what has changed most: the journey no longer starts at the gangway. It starts weeks earlier, in the anticipation, the imagining, the first connection to a destination still on the horizon. This is where Panomax Cruises & Yachts works. Most onboard technology earns its place by disappearing. Ours earns its place by appearing at exactly the right moment. Through live visual experiences, we connect ships, destinations, and future guests: bringing a place to life long before arrival, and keeping it alive long after departure. Because the most valuable part of any voyage doesn't begin onboard. It begins with a view.

Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas once again brought together the cruise industry’s leading designers, suppliers, and decision-makers in Miami, reaffirming its position as one of the sector’s most valuable events. Across two days of discussions, meetings, and networking opportunities, one message emerged clearly: the cruise industry continues to evolve from focusing on design as a physical space to design as a complete guest experience. Conversations with cruise lines, design studios, and industry partners highlighted a growing emphasis on how passengers engage not only with the ship itself, but also with the destinations they visit. Visual storytelling, digital touchpoints, and immersive experiences are increasingly becoming essential elements of the modern cruise journey. For Panomax Cruises & Yachts, this evolution reinforces the importance of connecting guests with destinations before, during, and after their voyage. Through high-quality panoramic visual experiences, Panomax helps transform destination awareness into meaningful engagement, extending the guest experience beyond traditional onboard environments.

Over the past year, Panomax Cruises & Yachts has continued strengthening its presence within the international cruise community through a growing number of industry events, partnerships, and live showcases. One of the highlights came during Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Europe 2025 in Hamburg , where Panomax took part in the returning Pitch and Pint competition, a fast-paced live session challenging suppliers to present their business in just one minute before a panel of respected industry experts. Representing Panomax, Daniel Silva, Head of Commercial Relations , delivered the winning pitch in front of a packed audience, standing out through a presentation that combined creativity, simplicity, and strong visual impact. The moment became especially memorable when Panomax unveiled a metres-long panoramic banner stretching across the audience , transforming the pitch into an immersive demonstration of the company’s visual storytelling approach. The recognition reflected not only the originality of the presentation itself, but also the growing interest around immersive visual technologies and how they can enhance the cruise guest journey, destination engagement, and onboard experience. Building on that momentum, Panomax will now continue its international presence at Cruise Ship Interiors Design Expo Americas 2026 in Miami , one of the world’s leading exhibitions dedicated exclusively to the cruise interior design industry.
