A New Chapter Begins: EXPLORA III Sets Sail

On 24 July 2026, a new chapter in luxury cruising began in Genoa. And we were there to capture it live.
EXPLORA III departed from Genoa just one day after being delivered at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard, setting off on her very first journey:
A Mediterranean Prelude to EXPLORA III with Jannik Sinner.
For Panomax Cruises & Yachts, it was more than a departure. It was the opportunity to bring a defining moment in the ship’s story closer to guests, followers and cruise enthusiasts around the world, live from onboard.
From shipyard to sea with a familiar name
EXPLORA III’s first voyage began almost as soon as the ship left the shipyard. Delivered on 23 July at Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente shipyard in Genoa, she set sail less than 24 hours later, marking the beginning of a new chapter for Explora Journeys and its first LNG-powered ship.
For the first two days the ship had a very special guest, the world-class tennis champion and Explora Journeys brand ambassador Jannik Sinner, travelling with EXPLORA III from Genoa to Marseille. From there, the inaugural itinerary continued along the French and Italian Rivieras before reaching Rome.
A remarkable first voyage for a remarkable new ship, and one that began with a familiar name onboard.
Seeing the story as it happens
Moments like this are precisely why real-time panoramic imaging matters.
Onboard EXPLORA III, two Panomax panoramic cameras capture the journey from different perspectives: a 180° camera providing a focused panoramic view from the bow, and a 360° camera offering a wider perspective of the ship and its surroundings.
Together, they allow the journey to be experienced from onboard in real time — from the ship’s departure in Genoa to the Mediterranean landscapes unfolding along the route.
Through the Panomax platform, guests, followers and cruise enthusiasts around the world could watch EXPLORA III begin her inaugural voyage as it happened, while the captured views remain available to revisit afterwards.
